Application

The International a cappella Contest Leipzig is aimed at outstanding young vocal groups from all over the world. It wants to be a place for musical exchange between young groups and a cappella professionals. Simon Carrington, co-founder and longtime member of The King’s Singers, will head the international jury.

The 13th competition will be run from May 3 to 6, 2023 within the 23st International Festival for Vocal Music a cappella.

What’s important and included?

  • Total prize money is € 4.500 (1st prize is the Leipzig a cappella award)
  • Appearance of the Award winner at the final concert of the festival a cappella 2023
  • Concert Performance of the Award winner during the festival a cappella 2024
  • Feedback from each jury member individually
  • Free individual coaching at the masterclass with Stephen Connolly (longtime member of The King’s Singers)
  • Showcase performance of each ensemble after the masterclass
  • Seminar on the human voice held by Prof. Dr. Michael Fuchs (Medical scientist, University of Leipzig)
  • Price benefits on tickets to the festival a cappella
  • Free entry to the closing concert of the festival a cappella
  • Travel allowance may be granted in particular cases
  • Price benefits on accommodation in Leipzig

Conditions of Participation

  • Average age of the ensembles may not exceed 29 years
  • Application form due until 09 January, 2023
  • Finalists announced until start of February, 2023
