The Jury
The judging panel in 2012 will consist of four jurors headed by Simon Carrington.

Simon Carrington

Simon Carrington is currently Emeritus Professor at Yale University and was director of the Yale Schola Cantorum and professor of conducting from 2003 to 2009. Today he is one of the world’s leading choir conductors. Prior to coming to the United States, he was a creative force for twenty-five years with the internationally acclaimed British vocal ensemble The King’s Singers, which he co-founded at Cambridge University in 1968. From 1994 until 2001 he was professor of choral conducting and choir director at the University of Kansas, a position he also held at the New England Conservatory in Boston from 2001 to 2003. In addition, Simon Carrington maintains an active schedule, conducting and leading master classes around the world in cities such as Budapest, Barcelona, Chicago, Tokyo and Singapore.

Martin Hoffmeister
Martin Hoffmeister is head of the day programme at the radio station MDR FIGARO and belongs to the jury of the INTERNATIONAL CLASSICAL MUSIC AWARDS (ICMA) in Cannes, France. He studied German literature and language, philosophy, rhetoric and musicology and, since 1987, works as a magazine and music journalist at radio and TV stations. Being a freelance publicist, he also writes articles for various European publications such as books, newspapers and magazines

The order in which groups appear will be decided by the jury by casting lots. The jury shall weigh up the performances on the basis of the jury rules in secret. The results shall be decided by the jury alone. The decisions reached by the jury are final and may not be contested. The jury has the right to withhold prizes if the entrants’ performances do not come up to the standard required.
Following the competition, the participants may consult the members of the jury.
